Biniaraix Guide

Biniaraix is a hamlet in the municipality of Sóller, on Mallorca, in the Serra de Tramuntana. The lanes sit at about 94 metres, postal code 07101. The Ajuntament calls it Arab in origin: cobbles, stone houses, the foot of the range. A strip of the settlement sits in Fornalutx. This is not Fornalutx. That neighbour carries the prettiest-village search. Biniaraix is the trailhead for the Barranc de Biniaraix, a karst gorge whose dry-stone path is a Bien de Interés Cultural. The hamlet itself is a Conjunto Histórico. It is not Port de Sóller, and it is not Deià.

The lanes are a slow hour if you only walk the plaça, the church and the wash-houses. The reason to come is the barranc. Stay overnight in Sóller if the point is this path plus oranges the next morning. A week inside these streets has nowhere to spend it. Do not treat the place as a dining street. The INE population unit counted 455 residents in 2025. The Sóller-side figure for 2022 was 440. Do not invent a second headcount for the Fornalutx strip.

There is no station in the hamlet. The chain that works is Palma, then the wooden Ferrocarril de Sóller from Plaça Espanya, about an hour since 1912, or TIB bus 204 in about 45 minutes. The Ajuntament says the walk from Sóller's main square is about 20 minutes. Once you are in, you walk. The lanes are cobble. Bags on wheels stop at the plaça.
