Terms of Service

By accessing or using Shlau Personal at shlau.com, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use our services. These terms form a binding agreement between you and the service provider identified in Section 2.

Shlau Personal is a bookmark and personal knowledge management service. It lets you save, organize, search, and rediscover content such as links, notes, images, documents, audio, recipes, maps, and finance bookmarks. You may optionally connect messaging channels (WhatsApp, Telegram, Instagram, or email) to send content to your account. The service includes AI-assisted features such as keyword suggestions, semantic search, audio transcription, and profile description generation. An optional voice assistant (currently in beta) and, on eligible paid plans, a podcast/newsletter digest feature are also available. Features and limits may vary by plan and may change as we improve the product.

You must be at least 16 years old in Germany, or at least 13 years old in other EU member states, to use Shlau Personal. By creating an account, you confirm that you meet this age requirement and have the legal capacity to enter into this agreement. If you use the service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization.

Accounts are managed through Clerk authentication (email/password or Google sign-in). You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity under your account. You must provide accurate information when registering and keep your profile information up to date. Notify us promptly at [email protected] if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.

Shlau Personal offers Free, Pro, and Premium plans with different usage limits (for example, bookmark counts, attachments, and AI features as shown on our pricing page). • Free plan: no charge, subject to usage limits. • Paid plans (Pro and Premium): billed through RevenueCat (Web Billing, App Store, and Google Play). Payment card details are processed by those platforms and RevenueCat; we do not store your full card number. • Subscriptions renew automatically each billing period unless cancelled. • Usage limits may apply to AI and other features; exceeding limits may require upgrading or waiting until the next billing period. • To cancel a paid subscription or change your plan, use Settings (web) or your App Store / Google Play subscription management, or contact [email protected] or [email protected]. If you are a consumer in the European Union, nothing in these terms affects your mandatory statutory rights under applicable consumer protection law.

You retain ownership of content you submit to Shlau Personal (including bookmarks, notes, attachments, and profile information). By submitting content, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to store, process, display, and analyze your content solely to operate and improve the service, including AI-assisted organization. You are solely responsible for ensuring you have the right to submit content and that it does not infringe third-party rights or violate applicable law.

You may optionally connect third-party messaging channels to send content to your Shlau account. Connecting a channel requires your deliberate action during onboarding or in settings. Each channel provider (WhatsApp, Telegram, Instagram, email, etc.) has its own terms and privacy policies that also apply. You can disconnect a channel at any time from your account settings. We are not responsible for the availability or policies of third-party channel providers.

Certain features let you share content beyond your private account: • Public profile: you may publish a profile page with selected information and bookmarks visible to anyone on the internet. • Share links: you may create time-limited links that give anyone with the URL access to a specific entry. These features are optional and require your deliberate action. You are solely responsible for what you choose to make public. Do not share content you do not have the right to distribute. Other users or visitors may report content they believe is problematic; we may review reports and take action including removal or account suspension.

Shlau Personal uses artificial intelligence to help organize your content, including transcription (OpenAI), semantic search, keyword suggestions, and an optional voice assistant powered by ElevenLabs. AI-generated outputs may be inaccurate or incomplete. You should verify important information before relying on it. The voice assistant is currently in beta and features may change without notice. Use of AI features is subject to your plan limits and our Privacy Policy regarding data processing by third-party providers.

You agree not to: • Use the service for any unlawful purpose or to violate others' rights. • Upload malware, spam, or content that is harassing, defamatory, or obscene. • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems or other users' accounts. • Scrape, crawl, or abuse the service through automated means beyond normal use. • Circumvent usage limits, subscription requirements, or security measures. • Interfere with the proper functioning of the service. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.

You may stop using Shlau Personal at any time. To request account closure or deletion of your data, email [email protected]. Paid subscription cancellation is handled as described in Section 6. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the service. Upon termination, your right to use the service ends, but provisions that by their nature should survive (such as liability limitations and content licenses for already-processed data) will remain in effect.

Shlau Personal is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not guarantee uninterrupted, error-free, or secure operation. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim related to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or EUR 50 if you use the free plan. If you are a consumer in the EU, these limitations do not affect your mandatory statutory rights under applicable consumer protection law.

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time to reflect changes in our services or legal requirements. We will notify you of material changes via email or a prominent notice on our platform. The "Last updated" date at the top indicates when these terms were last revised. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
